About

Statement of Faith

It is our conviction that God’s Word, the Bible, is inspired, inerrant, sufficient and authoritative. This conviction drives us to shape our educational philosophy solely on the basis of what God’s Word has to say about a subject instead of what the current trend may be. Our belief that all of life’s questions can be answered by the truth found in the Bible causes us to carefully study Scripture in light of its context and history. A high view of God leads us to vividly see our own sinfulness and our ultimate dependence on Him. We rely on God to provide us with a way to be found favorable in His sight, which He provided through the death of His son, Jesus Christ.

Purpose

Coram Deo Classical School (CDCS) will offer families with children in first grade through high school the opportunity to train their children using the classical Christian model of education. The children will meet one day a week for classroom instruction, to turn in assignments from the previous week, and to discuss assignments for the next week. The purpose is to train children in the classical method with a biblical worldview in the presence of God, under the authority of God, to the glory of God.

Coram Deo Classical is a tutorial program designed to help parents home educate their children by doing the lesson planning, objectively evaluating their student’s work, and teaching through discovery and discussion. CDCS does not discriminate on the basis of race or gender.

Philosophy

Our goal is to train children in the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. Parents have the ultimate responsibility to teach and train their children. The teachers at Coram Deo are coming along side of parents to help them with this awesome responsibility. We do not want to replace parents in any way. Students will be trained to look at the world with a biblical perspective. They will learn that whatever we are doing and wherever we are doing it, we are acting under the gaze of God’s omnipresence. This includes having integrity in school work.

Class Conduct

•  Students are expected to respect their teachers, each other, and other’s property, including the church building.

•  Students are expected to give good reports.  This means refraining from gossip, slander and complaining about fellow students or teachers.

•  Students will speak respectfully and will not use profane language at any time.

•  Students are expected to follow the dress code as set forth by CDCS.

•  Students are expected to come to class prepared.  This means ALL assignments completed and all books and supplies will be brought to class.

•  Students will be given two weeks to make up missed work or tests, unless arrangements have been made with the teacher.

•  All work must be completed and turned in by the last day of each semester or students will receive a “0” for the work.

Discipline Procedures

Students who violate any of the above policies will receive one discipline slip per violation. When a student receives a slip, it will be recorded in the discipline record. After three slips, a student will be given detention. If a student receives detention, the parents will be notified. If the behavior continues after discipline slips are given, the parents will be called to pick up their child.

CDCS Modesty & Honor Code

Coram Deo Classical School desires to operate our school ‘in the presence of God.’ Meaning, all that we do or say is before the face of God, under His authority and for His glory. This includes modesty of words, deeds and appearances.

To live Coram Deo is to live one’s entire life in the presence of God, under the authority of God and to the honor and glory of God.

CDCS Parent Student Handbook

CDCS recognizes that this Parent/Student Handbook does not specifically address all issues or circumstances that may arise through the course of CDCS’s education of students and operation of schools. In case of difference in interpretation, school administrators will render decisions that are lawful, fair, and in the best interests of CDCS. CDCS reserves the right to change policies and procedures at any time without notice. The handbook does not constitute a contract between CDCS and the student/parent, and CDCS reserves the right at its discretion to change or amend the handbook at any time in the future.

CDCS School Health Policy

Recognizing that inherent risk of contracting an infectious disease exists any time groups of individuals assemble together, Coram Deo Classical School (CDCS) has implemented a health policy to minimize these risks for students and faculty.
